6 Days: Northeast Laos Historical Tracks

After stretch your legs for morning exercise to check in Pa Thock cave and finish breakfast, we will continue our adventures. Depart from Nong Khiaw at 10:00 AM passing the local village, a couple stops along the way took us to a Laos bush toilet, you can support the small village as buy the snack, Banana, Sweet potato and seasoning fruits. We arrived at small town call Vieng Thong, check in for our accommodation, heading to get lunch and rest for long driving. We meet as manage time by tour guide. This town were not many tourists and quite at the night time. We walk down on the main road passing big smile from local people specially children to the Hot Springs. Our guide will buy some eggs to show you. How hot the water? We return to town for Basi (Blessing for luck) and test the local food.

Wake up early morning for fresh breath and could wake up very early (5:00 AM) for check in the morning market. We depart from Vieng Thong at 8:00 AM after breakfast. Few hours of driving later, we arrive the small village called (Ban Tao Hin), where is the Hintang Archaeological Park, the park is just opposite a local village. We heading off into the hills. On your walk up to the Hintang Archaeological Park was surrounding by beauty. Hiking up steep hills, smelling Lao native flower and meet with local people. The Hintang are essentially just roughly cut slabs rock, they are cut from a type of rock that isn’t found locally. Some of them possibly as early as 1000 BC. And hiking back to village after survey around and jump back on the bus, we continue our journey as rest after stretch your legs. Another hour or two later and we will stop at a lovely Saleuy waterfall. This is where you will have lunch. We are arriving Vieng Xai the translated means “Victory City” (Hue Phan provice) around 4:00 PM. This town is the story of Laos government as our presidents have used these caves to be home, office/department during war.

Time to say goodbye for caves. We leave Vieng Xai at 10:00 AM and from Sam Nue at 10:45 AM. Today our journey will pass local villages and included stop for toilet, walking around villages for cool down your bump and legs. We will reach Phonsavan around afternoon. What a nice looking town! Check into hotel and go straight to the MAG (Mines Advisory Group) information center and is involved with removing unexploded bomb in Laos among another thing. Back to hotel for little rest before meet group for dinner and walk around the night market.

Be a morning fresh after have good sleep. We were off to check out the plain of Jars after check out of the hotel and finished breakfast. Today we will visit 2 sited of the Plain of Jars. Site one have 334 Jars, In the same place have nice cave from Bomb and you can see some big hole from bomb during the civil war (Second war), The site two have 90 Jars. The stone jars themselves date back to approximately 2000 years ago. After we check out of the jars. We heading to Bomb Spoon village, the people in village melt down old bomb that ready exploded and turn them into Spoon, Chopsticks, Bangle and other little trinkets and you can try to make your own spoon or chopsticks and have quick stop at a Russian tank reminder that the Russians were supplying the Pathet Lao with weapons. After check all things. We back to vehicle and continues to Phou Koun, where we will camp and overnight.

After enjoy a night camping at fogy mountain. We will get breakfast and coffee. We pack our stuff and turn down to morning market to see local life style and test local food.

We leave Phou Koun at 9:00 AM to Luang Prabang. On the way we will stop for toilet and lunch before hitting Luang Prabang. We will arrive Luang Prabang around 4:00 PM guide and driver will drop you off the accommodation and time to say good bye to you all.
