Travel Itinerary
Day 1 - Cycling to explore the world heritage sites
After enjoying breakfast at your accommodation, we’ll get you ready to see this wonderful, exciting town through the seasoned eyes of Asia Holiday Travel tour guides. After we’re sure that your bike is checked out and the seat fits, we’ll leave from the office at 8:30, headed first to the Morning Market, a unique slice of local Lao morning routine.
You may want to sample some of the food you see there before we ride off to Wat Xieng Thong, one of the oldest temples in the Old Town and UNESCO protected. You’ll definitely want to have your camera ready. There will be photo ops at every turn, both inside and outside the temple on the temple grounds. (As this is an active temple, please be sensitive to the cultural behavior expected. Your guide will explain more about this.)
Then it will be time to cross the Mekong River to visit two other old villages, Ban Xieng Man and Ban Chan. Xieng Man is an older village with an old temple; Ban Chan is known for its pottery, made locally after the end of the farming season.
